FRUIT BODY: 3 - 10cm wide. A flexible, dry polypore with a wavy edge and banded, tomentose upper surface. The colour zoning can vary immensely yet the lower surface is always cream or white. Can be used as a tea, tincture, a dye for wool and as assistance in treating various cancers especially of the prostate. FLESH: Leathery, white and thin. No distinct odour or taste. SPORES: Very small, round and white. HABITAT: In horizontal tiers on rotting deciduous trees, particularly oak and beech. SEASON: Very common throughout the year. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
